Recently my son Harry had to write and cook a family recipe that represents his heritage. To say he was very proud of himself at the end is an understatement - he loved learning to cook and I'm so glad that I have these photos that document his first meal.
Following on from a new brand launch what better time to (re)introduce myself!
So here are 10 things you might not know about me!
I looooove sunrises and sunsets
I am in awe of nature when I witness a breathtaking sunset. Mahatma Gandhi observed this power when he said, “When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.” I've spent many early hours photographing sunrises - getting up in the dark, wrapping up warm and usually driving 45 minutes to a beach so that I can witness the start of the day and photograph it's splendour. It is definitely worth it.
I am originally from Dublin, Ireland
I met my now husband in Ireland in 2000 and we emigrated to Australia in 2003. I still have my Irish accent :) and no, I don't drink Guinness!
I was a basketball player as a child
I played at state and national level in Ireland. I loved the game, I started when I was six and played until I left uni.
My first car was an eleven year old Ford that did not have FM radio or air con
I was forced to listen to AM music radio all the time as the only other option was to play cassettes..which I did not have! When it was very warm I had to drive with the windows down (and they were not automatic so that was an effort.)
One of my favourite sounds is of a champagne bottle being opened!
How satisfying is it when you pop open a bottle of Champagne and the cork shoots to the ceiling? I don’t discriminate, and equally enjoy Cava, Prosecco, Champagne, and sparkling wine made anywhere else in the world. Because why not? You don’t always need a reason to drink bubbles.
I don't drink coffee
I never have and I never will. I do however like the smell of coffee and will happily make one for someone.....it just might not be any good! I am an avid tea drinker, and I am a little bit addicted to buying different tea blends.
My grandmother had fourteen children!
Yes you read that correctly - fourteen. Wow! I take my hat off to her, she raised them all in a small house, with one bathroom. This means that I am very lucky to have lots of aunts and uncles and approx. 45 cousins! Family weddings are a large but very fun affair!
I am addicted to buying books
I love reading, and I always have one or two books on the go. I get very excited when I hear about an upcoming book fair, I am there the minute it opens. Two hours later and 20 books in arms, I leave with a smile on my face.
Lately I have started making pottery
I attend weekly art classes and one of the mediums we used was clay. I loved it! I have made a teapot, bowls, tea light holders and I plan to make a wind chime next.
My one guilty pleasure is...
Playing games on my phone/tablet. I have one farming game that I have been playing for about eighteen months. I don't play Candy Crush or puzzle games, but I love the simulation games, where I have to farm, cook or build a city.
So there you go! Hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better.
